Terms of Service
These are the terms that apply when you use MirrorMap. By installing the watchapp or subscribing to a paid tier, you’re agreeing to them. They’re written in plain English because nobody actually reads the lawyer version.
1. What MirrorMap is
MirrorMap is a navigation app for Pebble smartwatches. The watchapp itself is free. Two paid subscription tiers (MirrorMap Routes and MirrorMap Dash) add turn-by-turn routing through our backend infrastructure.
2. Subscriptions
- Recurring billing. Subscriptions renew automatically each month at the listed price plus any applicable tax. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each renewal.
- Cancel anytime. You can cancel at any time from your subscription management page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — routing stays active until then.
- Refunds. We don’t pro-rate refunds for partial months. If something’s broken and we can’t fix it, email us and we’ll work it out.
- Price changes. If we raise prices on existing subscribers, we’ll email you with at least 30 days’ notice. You can cancel before the new price applies.
- Payment processing. Routes is billed through Stripe. Dash is billed through Google Play. Their respective terms apply to the payment portion of your transaction.
3. Your access code
When you subscribe, we issue you an access code. The code is for your personal use. Sharing it with others, scripting it, or otherwise abusing it may result in the code being revoked. We monitor usage patterns to detect this.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer the backend in ways that interfere with our service or others’ access to it
- Use MirrorMap to harm anyone or break the law
- Attempt to access routes data, codes, or user data that isn’t yours
- Resell access to MirrorMap without our written permission
5. Navigation isn’t safety-critical
Important: MirrorMap is for general navigation. Do not use it for emergency services, search and rescue, aviation, marine navigation, or anything else where wrong directions could cause harm.
Routes are computed by Google Maps and rendered on your watch. They’re usually right, but they’re not infallible. Roads close, maps go stale, satellites get blocked by buildings. Drive, bike, and walk like a thoughtful human — use turn signals, watch the road, and don’t blindly trust your wrist.
6. Service availability
We aim for high uptime but don’t guarantee 100%. The backend may be down for maintenance, the Google API may rate-limit us, or something we depend on may break in ways we don’t anticipate. The free watchapp keeps working as a map even when our backend is down — you just won’t be able to route.
7. Changes to the service
We may add features, change features, or remove features. If we remove something significant that you paid for, you can cancel and we’ll refund the unused portion of the current period.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
MirrorMap is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MirrorMap, its operators, and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to MirrorMap is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $50, whichever is greater.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your subscription for material breach of these terms, including abuse, payment failure, or fraud. You can terminate your subscription anytime by canceling.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Los Angeles County, California.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms materially, we’ll email anyone with an active subscription. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent version. Continuing to use MirrorMap after the change means you accept the new terms.
